With our passion and our expertise in the aesthetic restoration and refinishing of exclusive timepieces, we devote special care to each model. As a professional, independent artisanry atelier, we take the time your timepiece deserves.
We privilege a single piece treatment instead of an assembly line work approach. Meticulous attention to detail, great care in all work steps and respect for the craftsmanship of the watch manufacturer form the maxims of watch restoration and refinishing at Varela Atelier.

You visit us personally in our Atelier
We would like to take enough time not only for your timepiece, but also for you. We therefore ask you to get in touch with us first using the contact form.

We pick up your watch personally
Within a radius of 90km we offer a convenient pick up and delivery service for your timepiece. Comfortable, fully insured and safe.

Collection by value transport courier

Handling
We have special shipping boxes for your exclusive timepiece. Please fill out the contact form below so that we can send you the box free of charge
In addition to a transport watch case, you will also receive a label for the return shipment with our shipping box. Place your watch in the case to store it in the shipping box. Now stick the address label on the closed box.
As soon as your watch has arrived, we determine the current condition and the expected effort for the refurbishment of your timepiece.
Your watch is first registered, photographed and analyzed. You will then receive a final cost estimate for approval of the order for further coordination. If you should reject our cost estimate, we will send your watch back to you as quickly as possible by value transport courier. The transport costs depend on the value of the watch.
Your watch will be refurbished, refinished and polished with precision and care in our state-of-the-art atelier. Depending on the order situation, the service will take approx. 5-10 working days.
Considering an additional service of the movement, the entire repair service takes a maximum of 3-4 weeks. In any case, we will update you on the repair status so you are aware at all times how long it is going to take.
As soon as the refurbishment or repair is complete and your watch has successfully passed our comprehensive quality control, we will send your timepiece back to you securely by value transport courier

As an independent specialized Atelier we take the time your timepiece deserves and do prefer a single piece treatment rather than an assembly line work approach. At the same time, we are able to offer short lead times. In addition, we are extremely flexible and customer-oriented and only do what the customer wants us to do. “just remove a specific scratch on the clasp? No problem!”
After you have contacted us, we will send you a shipping box, in which you will also find a detailed description of how to pack your watch securely in the box so that it reaches us undamaged. If you have any questions, please use the contact form to contact us and we will help you as soon as possible.
Alternatively, we offer a safe and personal pickup if you are located within a 90km radius.
We always try to save our customers unnecessary costs. We calculate the transport costs for picking up or returning your watch as follows:
Zone 1: 30km radius > Your watch will be picked up and returned by us personally and safely free of charge.
Zone 2: 90km radius > Your watch will be picked up and returned by us personally and safely. The fee for this is €39.-
For other shipping within Germany, we work with reliable value transport partner companies. The costs (one way) are calculated as follows:

Your watch is always insured for its full value both during transport and during service in our Atelier.
At the beginning of a restoration, refinishing or polishing, your watch is first checked for functionality. The case, strap and clasp are also checked and carefully examined in order to estimate the amount of effort involved. In the second step, data and information as well as the detailed condition of the watch are noted on a service card.
The movement is then removed from the case. Case, strap and clasp are pre-cleaned and prepared for refinishing. Depending on what exactly is requested by the customer, the watch is professionally and expertly refinished and polished. As soon as the case, strap and clasp have been refinished, the movement is reassembled in the case.
Last but not least, a final check, a water resistance test and a check on the accuracy of the movement is carried out.
Since each watch is quite individual in its buildup, it is difficult to give a flat rate for a restoration or refinishing. It is only after we have examined a watch that we can calculate exactly what the service would cost.
To give you an indication, a complete refurbishment of a Rolex Submariner/GMT/Sea-Dweller costs € 360 incl. VAT.

Since we specialize in restoration, refinishing and polishing of exclusive timepieces, we do not do any movement repairs ourselves. We work together with certified watchmakers and watch workshops if a customer also needs a revision of the movement.
Depending on the order situation, your watch will be processed within 5-10 working days. With an additional repair of the movement, the entire repair service takes a maximum of 3-4 weeks.
After the service at our premises, we will send your timepiece back to you via an insured value courier (if you are out of the 90km Radius).

Daniel Schön Varela inherited his love for particularly fine and mechanical timepieces from his grandfather, a renowned watchmaker in the 1950s.
“As a little boy, I was always fascinated by the sight of my grandfather, as he sat – deep in thought – in his small workshop, surrounded by his watchmaking tools and repairing the timepieces of his customers with absolute dedication and care.” This was the beginning of a never-ending willing passion and enthusiasm for traditional craftsmanship and high precision timepieces.
At first it was just a hobby and for many years Daniel not only polished and refinished his own watches, his friends also gave their valuable pieces into his hands. Word got around about his extraordinary craftsmanship and his detailed knowledge, and so the small, fine customer base continued to grow.
“There are not many who are able to refurbish luxury timepieces to absolute perfection. That’s why I really enjoy the appreciation that strangers show me and entrust me with their most exclusive watches. That’s how the idea came about to set up our own modern and independent atelier.”
